ICE BATHS AND COLD PLUNGES

Ice bath installation in Dubai for homes, gyms and hotels

An ice bath in Dubai only works if the water stays cold through summer, stays clean and drains where it should. Euphorium supplies, installs and maintains ice baths and cold plunge systems for villas, apartments, gyms and hospitality spaces across the UAE. Euphorium has installed and maintained hundreds of ice baths and saunas across Dubai. Euphorium’s technicians are Canadian-trained and Euphorium builds to Canadian standards.

Discuss ice bath installation

Ice bath or cold plunge: choosing the format

People use the two names for the same thing: a tub of cold water you sit in for a short time. The difference that matters is the format, because it decides how cold the water gets, how clean it stays and how much building work the space needs. There are three main options.

  • Portable ice bath tub. An inflatable or rigid tub paired with a separate chiller. It needs no building work, it can move with you when you change villa or apartment, and it is the format most people start with. The trade-off is that the hoses, the chiller and the tub sit in plain sight.
  • All-in-one cold plunge tub. A finished cabinet with the cooling unit, pump and filtration built into one body. It looks tidier on a terrace or in a gym, plugs into a suitable socket and needs a level, load-bearing floor. Compare it with a portable unit if appearance and noise matter to you.
  • Built-in plunge. A tiled, stone or stainless steel plunge set into the floor or a raised plinth, with the chiller and filtration housed in a plant space. This is the custom ice bath route: it suits villas, rooftops, spas and gyms that want the plunge to be part of the architecture, and it needs plumbing, drainage and electrical work from the start.

A cold plunge pool is a larger version of the built-in option, often shared by several people at once in a gym or wellness club. An ice plunge or ice tub usually means a smaller single-person bath. Whatever you call it, size the water volume to the number of users and how often it will be used, then pick the format that fits the room.

Gyms, hotels and wellness clubs face different pressures from a villa owner. Several people may use the plunge one after another, water quality has to hold up through a full day, and the system needs service access that does not mean closing the room. For these spaces Euphorium usually look at larger water volumes, stronger filtration and a plant area close to the plunge, so the equipment can be maintained without disturbing guests or members. Euphorium’s commercial multi-tub setups are built for 50+ uses a day without water-quality drift. Commercial wellness installations typically cost AED 250,000-580,000; multi-tub commercial ice bath setups AED 80,000-250,000; the custom sauna price comes in your estimate PDF.

Ice bath prices in Euphorium’s shop are listed before VAT, which is added at checkout: inflatable tub-only ice baths without a chiller, where you add your own ice, start from AED 799; tub + chiller systems from AED 8,999; new chillers from AED 8,800; all-in-one cold plunges with a built-in chiller from AED 23,999. Pre-owned chillers start from AED 6,500 when available. Purpose-built cold plunge pools are designed and quoted per project; recent quotes have ranged from about AED 66,500 to AED 235,000 + VAT, depending on size, finish and chiller capacity.

If you are still comparing tubs, Euphorium’s cold plunge buying guide walks through materials, insulation, lids and access. If you already know the size you need, you can shop ice baths and send Euphorium the model you have in mind so Euphorium can check it against your space.

Chiller sizing and filtration: 1HP, 1.5HP, ozone and UV

The chiller is the part that turns a tub of water into a working cold plunge tub. Ice alone is expensive to keep buying in Dubai, melts quickly in warm rooms and leaves the water temperature unpredictable from one session to the next. A chiller holds a set temperature and lets you plunge whenever you want without planning a bag of ice around it.

For home and small studio plunges, chillers are commonly specified at 1HP or 1.5HP. The larger unit is the usual choice when the water volume is bigger, the tub sits outdoors or under direct sun, several people use it each day, or you want the water to recover its temperature quickly between sessions. A smaller unit can suit a single user with an indoor tub in an air-conditioned room. Euphorium size the chiller after Euphorium knows the tub volume, the location, the ambient conditions and the expected use, rather than from a catalogue line. A correctly sized, well-maintained chiller typically lasts 7-10 years; undersized units often fail within 3-5. Euphorium size chillers 30-50% above the catalogue rating to cope with UAE heat.

Set point matters as much as horsepower. Euphorium’s ice bath temperature guide explains how people choose a water temperature and why it is sensible to start warmer and adjust gradually. Most people use a cold plunge between about 3 and 15 °C. Start around 10-15 °C for short sessions and go colder as you get used to it; a chiller holds whatever temperature you set.

Filtration and water care

Cold water still needs looking after. Skin, sweat, sunscreen and dust all end up in the tub, and still water in a warm climate turns quickly. Most of Euphorium’s ice bath installs include filtration plus ozone or UV sanitation, and every installation comes with water-care guidance at handover. Most systems combine three layers:

  • Mechanical filtration through a cartridge or sand filter to catch hair, lint and particles.
  • Ozone to oxidise organic matter in the water as it circulates.
  • UV to treat water as it passes the lamp, which helps keep the tub fresh between water changes.

Filtration reduces the work, but it does not remove it. Plan for regular filter cleaning, a lid or cover, a shower before each plunge and water changes at intervals that suit your use. Euphorium set up the system so these jobs are quick and easy to reach.

Indoor or outdoor placement in Dubai heat

Placement changes the cost and the performance of an ice bath more than almost any other choice. An indoor tub in an air-conditioned room is the easiest for a chiller to hold cold. An outdoor tub on a terrace, by a pool or on a rooftop fights direct sun and hot air for much of the year, so it needs more cooling, better insulation and a good cover.

Sun, humidity and dust are the three things that wear on an outdoor ice bath. Dubai summers make all three harder, so an outdoor setup needs a plan for shade and a cover from day one rather than as an afterthought. Outdoors, the same rules apply to a cold plunge. Dubai rooftops and terraces can work well, provided the chiller has airflow and the surface around the tub is safe when wet.

Indoors, check floor loading, waterproofing, how you will fill and drain the tub, and where the chiller will reject its heat. A chiller in a closed cupboard will struggle. Outdoors, plan for shade, an insulated lid, a weather-protected spot for the chiller and a power supply suitable for external use.

Euphorium has written a separate guide on indoor vs outdoor ice bath placement that covers balconies, gardens, gyms and rooftop plant areas in more detail.

Ice bath installation: plumbing, drainage, power and commissioning

A portable ice bath can be delivered, set up and used the same day. A portable tub needs little more than a level floor, a suitable power point and a way to drain it. A built-in system is a small construction project, and it is easier to get right when the services are planned before tiling starts. A typical ice bath installation covers four areas.

Plumbing

Supply and return lines between the tub and the chiller, isolation valves so the chiller can be serviced without draining everything, a fill point and, where possible, an overflow. Pipe runs are kept short and insulated so the system is not cooling the corridor as well as the water.

Drainage

Every tub has to be emptied. Euphorium confirm where the water will go, the fall to the drain and whether the floor or a nearby gully can take it. On upper floors and rooftops this is often the deciding factor for the format you can choose.

Power

Chillers, pumps and UV units each draw power. The supply, the protection on the circuit and the distance from the board are checked against the equipment you choose. Euphorium’s team are certified professionals and a licensed electrical contractor. The heaters, chillers and controls Euphorium installs carry CE or UL marking. Outdoor installations need weather-rated sockets and isolators.

Commissioning

Once the system is filled, Euphorium check for leaks, run the chiller to the set point, test the filtration and show you how to clean the filter, change the water and use the controls. Every ice bath install is run for 24-48 hours and checked to hold its target temperature before handover. You receive the manuals and the warranty details at handover.

A cold plunge installation in a gym or hotel follows the same steps on a larger scale, with more attention to plant space, water turnover and access for routine service. Euphorium coordinate Dubai Municipality, Civil Defence and DEWA approvals for commercial installs.

How a project runs with Euphorium

  1. You send photos, rough dimensions and how you plan to use the plunge.
  2. Euphorium send an initial estimate based on the format and equipment.
  3. Once you approve the initial estimate, Euphorium schedule a site visit to check the floor, the drain route, the power and the access.
  4. You receive a written quotation with the final scope. The timeline for your site is confirmed in that quotation.

Ice bath install timeline: design and quote 3-5 days, residential build and install 3-10 days after approval, commercial permits 1-3 weeks. The same 2-3 person crew works on your install from day one to handover.

For typical cost drivers and what moves a budget up or down, see Euphorium’s guide to the ice bath price in Dubai. Euphorium work mainly in Dubai and also serve Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah, depending on the product or appointment. You can read more about an ice bath in Abu Dhabi on Euphorium’s local page.

Retrofits: convert a bath, jacuzzi or plunge pool

You may already have the vessel. Euphorium heat jacuzzis, install steam systems and convert an existing bath, jacuzzi or plunge pool into an ice bath. A retrofit can save the cost and disruption of breaking out a floor, and it often gives you a larger and better-finished plunge than a freestanding tub.

Not every vessel is suitable. Before Euphorium recommends a conversion Euphorium looks at:

  • whether the existing shell and finishes can take cold water without condensation or cracking problems;
  • the water volume, because a large pool needs a much larger chiller than a single bath;
  • access for new pipework, and space nearby for the chiller and filtration;
  • insulation, since an uninsulated pool loses cold to the surrounding structure;
  • the existing pumps, valves and controls, and whether they can be reused.

Some owners want one vessel that does two jobs. A plunge pool can be set up to run cold for plunging or warm as a jacuzzi, which is how one of Euphorium’s published projects in Mirfa was designed.

If you are planning a hot side as well, a sauna and ice bath package lets Euphorium plan the sauna, the plunge, the shower between them and the shared services as one room.

Warranty: 1 year on ice baths

Ice baths come with a 1-year warranty. The warranty runs from handover for installed products and from delivery for shop orders. The terms are set out in your written quotation, so you know what is covered before you commit.

Keeping the filter clean, changing the water and following the manual keeps the system running the way it did on the day it was commissioned.

Euphorium also maintain and repair ice baths and cold-plunge chillers after installation, so you have one contact if a chiller stops cooling or a pump needs attention. Same-day repair visits in Dubai for most calls received before 4 PM; Abu Dhabi same or next day. Most repairs are completed on the same visit. Repairs start with a service call at AED 800 + VAT per unit. That is a proper on-site assessment, not a quick look. The final repair price depends on what the unit needs, and Euphorium quotes it after the assessment. Euphorium regularly fix chillers and saunas that other companies could not repair. Service contracts are available on request and tailored to your equipment; Euphorium does not sell fixed packages.

Rent first: from AED 1,600 per month

If you are not sure the habit will stick, rent before you build. Ice bath rental costs AED 2,000 per month before VAT for an inflatable tub with a 1.5HP chiller on a one- or two-month term, and longer terms cost less: AED 1,800 a month for 3 to 5 months, AED 1,700 for 6 to 11 months and AED 1,600 for 12 months. A wooden barrel ice bath with a 1.5HP chiller is AED 3,000 a month on any term, and an all-in-one ice bath is AED 3,800 a month for 1 to 2 months, AED 3,420 for 3 to 5 months, AED 3,230 for 6 to 11 months and AED 3,040 for 12 months. The residential ice bath is self-installed with a supplied setup guide; delivery in Dubai has no surcharge, Sharjah adds AED 250 and Abu Dhabi AED 500, shown with 5% VAT before you pay. The rental booking page shows every option and the full price. Renting is a sensible way to learn which temperature you like, how often you really plunge and where in the house the tub works well.

A rental is also useful when the household is split. One person may want to plunge daily while others are curious but unsure. A few weeks of real use settle the debate faster than any brochure, and it shows whether the chosen room, terrace or garage corner is practical when the tub is full, the chiller is running and someone needs to shower straight after.

Many people who rent first end up with a clearer brief for a permanent system: the right volume, the right chiller and a placement that suits daily use. Others find a portable setup is all they need. Either way, the rental month answers questions that are hard to settle on paper.

Published projects: Bulgari Residences, Mirfa and Rejuven8

Euphorium operate what Euphorium installs: from February 2025 Euphorium ran Euphorium’s own commercial ice bath facility on the same equipment Euphorium supplies and maintain. Two published residential retrofits show what that experience means for an ice bath installation.

Bulgari Residences: a luxury ice bath that could not be serviced

The finished marble cold plunge looked right but did not work as a system. Chilling took nearly a full day, the chiller ran on extension leads, and removing it meant cutting pipework. Euphorium reworked it without touching the marble:

  • cooling capacity tripled;
  • dedicated protected circuits replaced the extension leads;
  • the chiller can now be removed without demolition or cutting pipework;
  • remote monitoring was added;
  • the cooling, electrical and drainage systems can be serviced without dismantling the installation.

The built-in cold plunge retrofit case shows the before and after.

Mirfa: an undocumented plunge pool, now 4°C or 38°C

No drawings or specifications existed for this 3,000-litre plunge pool, so Euphorium surveyed the site and drew up the hydraulic and electrical systems from what was there. The same pool now runs at 4°C as an ice bath or at 38°C as a jacuzzi, with zero demolition, and the existing jets, lighting, drains, water supply and filtration were all retained. Read the pool to cold plunge retrofit for the hydraulic changes.

At commercial scale, the Rejuven8 re-engineering case covers a 12,000-litre system in Dubai Marina that now holds 4°C in continuous operation.

These projects are larger than most home installations, but the same questions drive every job: water volume, chiller capacity, filtration, drainage, power and access for service.

Questions to settle before you buy

Before choosing equipment, it helps to separate the hardware decision from the reasons you want to plunge. Euphorium’s guide to ice bath benefits sets out what research supports, what is still uncertain and who should speak to a doctor first. Choosing a plunge is an equipment decision, and Euphorium keep it separate from any health promise.

If you also use a sauna, read Euphorium’s guide to contrast therapy for how people alternate heat and cold at home. If you are weighing cold-air exposure instead of water, compare a plunge with a cryotherapy chamber before you decide. The questions below cover what most buyers ask Euphorium first. Related checks and planning

Retrofitting a pool as a chilled plunge

An existing pool needs a site-specific hydraulic, electrical and serviceability assessment before choosing a chiller. Existing drawings, pipe routes, filtration and controls affect what can be retained. The published Mirfa project converted a 3,000-litre pool for cold and heated use while retaining the existing jets, lights, drains, water and filtration, without demolition. That project is not a promise for another pool.

See the pool-to-cold-plunge retrofit case and discuss the existing system before requesting a design.

    Where to buy an ice bath in Dubai?

    You can buy an ice bath from Euphorium online or through a project quotation. Portable tubs and all-in-one units are available through Euphorium’s shop, and built-in or converted plunges are quoted after Euphorium understand your space. Send photos and rough dimensions on WhatsApp at +971 58 517 0161 and Euphorium will suggest a format, chiller size and placement before you commit.

    Where to buy cold plunge equipment in the UAE?

    Euphorium supplies cold plunge tubs, chillers and filtration across the UAE. Dubai is Euphorium’s primary service area, and Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah are served according to the selected product or appointment. Euphorium can supply equipment on its own, install a complete system, or convert an existing bath, jacuzzi or plunge pool into a cold plunge.

    Is an ice bath the same as a cold plunge?

    Yes, in everyday use the two names describe the same thing: a tub of cold water you sit in for a short time. Some people say ice bath when they add ice to a bath and cold plunge when a chiller holds the temperature. For buying purposes, the useful questions are the format, the water volume, the chiller and the filtration.

    Do I need a chiller, or can I just use ice?

    You can use ice, but in Dubai it melts quickly, costs money every session and gives an unpredictable water temperature. A chiller holds a set temperature so the plunge is ready whenever you are. Home systems are commonly specified with a 1HP or 1.5HP chiller, chosen according to tub volume, placement and how many people use it.

    Can I install an ice bath in an apartment?

    Often, yes. A portable or all-in-one tub suits many apartments if the floor can take the weight of a full tub, there is a way to fill and drain it, and the chiller has ventilation and a suitable power supply. Check your building rules as well. Euphorium confirm measurements, electrical supply and access before any work begins.

    How long does an ice bath installation take?

    It depends on the format and the site. A portable ice bath can be delivered, set up and used the same day, while a built-in plunge or a pool conversion involves plumbing, drainage, power and finishing work. As a guide, design and quote take 3-5 days, a residential build and install 3-10 days after approval, and commercial permits 1-3 weeks. The exact timeline is confirmed in the written quotation.

    What warranty comes with an ice bath?

    Ice baths come with a 1-year warranty. The warranty runs from handover for installed products and from delivery for shop orders. The exact terms are set out in your written quotation. Euphorium also maintain and repair ice baths and cold-plunge chillers, so you have one contact for service after installation.

    Can I rent an ice bath before buying one?

    Yes. Residential ice bath rental is AED 2,000 per month before VAT on a 1-month term or AED 1,600 per month on a 12-month term, and the rental booking page shows the full price before you pay. Renting first is a practical way to learn which temperature you like, how often you plunge and where the tub fits into your home. That makes the brief for a permanent system clearer.

    Which cold plunge setup works outdoors in Dubai heat?

    For outdoor use in Dubai, select the tub and chiller from measured water volume, direct-sun exposure, shade, airflow, insulation, target temperature and daily usage, not horsepower alone. A covered, insulated tub with free chiller airflow is generally easier to cool than an exposed uninsulated tub. Final sizing should use the exact site and supplier operating limits.
