The brief: create an authentic Finnish sauna for a Finnish family in a penthouse where the 7 kW specification proposed elsewhere could not be supported by the building infrastructure.
The design constraint
Sauna performance could not be solved by substituting a smaller heater into the same room. Room geometry, insulation, exposed glass, bench elevations, heater position, drainage, floor slope and ventilation all had to be recalculated together.
What Euphorium designed
The final design uses a validated 3-phase 4.5 kW system, Aspen interior, bespoke dimensions, drainage for daily water use and cleaning, controlled floor slope, heater protection and a triple ventilation strategy.
Project status
The technical and interior design was approved and entered production. The case is published as a design and engineering study, not as a claim that the cabin shown has already been commissioned at the residence.
What this case proves
Available power is not a reason to accept a weak sauna. It is a constraint that the complete room, heat load and airflow strategy must be designed around before fabrication begins.
